In our sub, 'OT' stands for 'Original Trilogy,' and refers to Mass Effect 1-3, excluding Andromeda. However, many players start with ME2 and go back and play ME1. Generally, the common consensus is that you should play the games in chronological order, especially if you have the Legendary Edition.
